Our Favorite Features
The Instant Pot comes with ten safety and security mechanisms, meaning that it is several times more secure than any traditional cooker. Moreover, the cooking mechanism is very efficient and to the point where there is no steam emission at all. The body is made from solid stainless steel and is high durable. The base is also made from 3ply stainless steel and has received special attention in designing and manufacturing, with the company believing that it needs to be the most robust since it receives the most heat.
There are different modes that are embedded within the Instant Pot. Whether you want to make soup or stew meat or make rice, there is a preset mode for all of them and several more. The panel has all the buttons to select and control these modes. Therefore, it means that you can get the cooking job done without even entering the kitchen. The start and cancel buttons are there onto the panel and the cooking can be stopped as and when required. It also means that the cooking is not only made simple but also in line with the demands of the users. If the preset mode is not to be used then the manual button can be used so that the work is done in line with the demands.
The delayed cooking has been taken to the next level when it comes to the Instant Pot. The timer can be set within the app for up to 24 hours. How is this helpful? For instance, a rice dish normally takes 30 minutes to cook but if the user went out, the cooking time can be delayed to a few hours so that it the rice is fresh and ready when the user reaches home. There is also the ‘Keep Warm’ function that can keep your food warm for up to 99 hours.
But if you want to control your Instant Pot by remote control you will need to get the Bluetooth version. The remote controlling of the cooker is a feature that has been truly appreciated by buyers. It means that the user can control the cooker with the app, which is connected with the panel via Bluetooth.
The app was primarily available on iOS, however in March 2016 the company also announced a version for Android. The controls in the app are the same as those on the front panel of the cooker, which means that you are not losing any of the integrated cooking modes.
With the phone app, you can even let your neighbor take care of your food. It means that the cooking timer can be set by someone else if he or she is within 30 feet range of the cooker. The entire cooking cycle can be started and stopped with this app and therefore the tremendous advancement is something that is highly praised by the purchaser.
What We Don’t Like About The Instant Pot
The most highlighted issues regarding this pot is that for a user who is not tech savvy the operation of this cooker is not a quick to learn appliance. However, our thoughts after putting it through it’s paces is that it seems complicated on first glance, but really, once you appreciate the basics, it isn’t hard.
Don’t be scared or intimidated by all the buttons – the manual that comes with it is very helpful, as is the Instant Pot website. And if you still don’t feel confident using it, you can join one of the many support groups on Facebook (this is the official one) or invest in a good Instant Pot Recipe Book.
