When you set out to purchase the perfect water pump for use around your home, there are several factors to consider and a number of things to look for. The Size of the Water Pump
Generally speaking, most water pumps for home use are designed to be mobile and portable, but some are definitely more portable than others. If portability is important to you, try to find a water pump that is not only small from a dimensions standpoint, but also lightweight, allowing you to carry it from place to place. However, when considering size you must also take into account the work area for which you need the pump. You want a water pump that is large enough to take care of the desired job, yet small enough to fit into the primary work area.
Materials: What Is It Made From?
When considering the material from which your water pump will be built you must also consider the type of pumping you will do. Saltwater, for example, can corrode metals and some plastics, so if you plan to pump saltwater you must buy a machine whose materials allow for that type of pumping. If you have a submersible job to do, you may want to get a lightweight, plastic pump that is designed for submersible applications; but for jobs like a flooded basement, a heavier duty metal pump is definitely your best bet.
