What Is The Best Outdoor Pizza Oven for 2020?

Who doesn’t love pizza? Pepperoni, Cheese, Hawaiian – most of us share a huge love for the Italian delicacy. But baking a perfect pizza is no easy task. To create that crusty, meaty, flavorful piece, you need expert skills, and (don’t forget!) a pizza oven.

There are lots of pizza ovens available on the market today. Some can cook pizzas in less than 5 minutes, while some can take as long as 10-20 minutes. Some pizza ovens can create that unique wood-fired flavor, while some can be portable for camping or an outdoor picnic.

The question is, which one should you choose?

Pizza Oven Buying Guide

Pizza ovens come in many shapes, styles, and uses. Choosing the best pizza oven can be a challenge, especially for first time buyers. In this article, we’re going to help you choose the top oven for your cooking needs.

Here are a few things to consider;

Types of Oven

There are four types of pizza ovens; the conveyor, deck, brick, and convection oven. Each has its own advantage and disadvantage, so choosing the right one for your needs is essential to create a successful pizza.

Deck Ovens are the modern equivalents of brick ovens. These ovens allow more control when baking and are often used by chefs to create varied kinds of pizzas.

Brick Ovens are the most aesthetically pleasing of all the ovens. In many restaurants, pizzas are cooked over large brick ovens while customers watch in awe. Brick ovens are often distinguished because of their ability to inject a wood-fired flavor to pizzas.

Revolving Tray Ovens spin pizzas slowly while applying heat evenly on all sides. These types are usually small and can be used at home.

Conveyor and Convection Ovens are usually the choice for delivery businesses and takeout restaurants since they can cook pizzas the fastest (often in less than just five and six minutes).

Construction

Outdoor pizza ovens are distinguished by their curved domes that help spread heat evenly and maintain high temperatures. This design also helps the outside of the oven to not get too hot. When choosing pizza oven, choose ones with a refractory oven floor. This helps bounce heat back up into the top of the oven so that you’ll be able to create crisp-crust pizzas.

Fuel Type – Do you go for a gas or electric type pizza oven? It all depends on your mobility, gas pizza ovens are best used for making traditional pizza with crisp crust and even cooking inside out. Electric pizza ovens are used when gas isn’t available all the time like if you have a food truck or carts.

Size – Outdoor pizza ovens are often small in size. They can bake only one pizza at a time, unlike larger indoor ovens that can bake up to four. They are designed to have smaller and more lightweight body so that people can easily transport them from one place to another.

Available Space – If you have limited space but still want to cook pizza, the best option for you is a convection type pizza oven since it takes the least amount of space. If you have more room to spare and a larger consumption, you can use deck or conveyor ovens.
