It’s that time of year when a hot chocolate deserves a regular slot in your weekly routine. There are plenty of different ways to make hot chocolate, from instant, to the more luxury feel stove top variety. Did you know you can also make hot chocolate in a crock pot? You can set off your slow cooker, head out for a walk, or some exercise, then return for a well deserved warming treat.
And the beauty of hot chocolate is you can vary up the ingredients and toppings according to your own taste buds. You can go for a simple cocoa, or add as many extras as your heart desires – sprinkles, marshmallows, chocolate chips and whipped cream (you may want to use a whipped cream dispenser to help create a beautiful swirled finish).
We’ve collected some of our favorite hot chocolate recipes for inspiration – the only problem is, which one to make first? Enjoy!
1. Crock Pot Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
Anything involving salted caramel is a winner in our minds (and bellies!) Kimberley from A Night Owl has created this really rather heavenly Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate in a crockpot. Better still, it only involves 3 ingredients and takes around 2 hours on low. It’s the perfect warming drink to have for parties and gatherings, it can just be left to simmer away on low, allowing people to go and serve themselves when they wish.
2. Nutella Hot Chocolate
Did someone say Nutella?! This hot chocolate made by Gimme Some Oven requires just 2 ingredients and takes only 5 minutes to make! If you are in a rush and need a Nutella fix pretty pronto, this is the hot chocolate for you.
3. White Hot Chocolate
If white chocolate is more to your taste you will most definitely want to head over to The Baker Upstairs for this indulgent, creamy chocolate drink. It looks perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or perhaps, just because?
4. Bourbon Spiked Hot Chocolate
This Bournon Spiked Hot Chocolate from A Cookie Named Desire isn’t one for the kids, although the alcohol isn’t added until the end, so you could potentially pour any helpings out for younger ones before this step. Assuming you want to share that is 😉
5. Unicorn Hot Chocolate
This Unicorn Hot Chocolate from Love & Olive Oil looks too good to eat. But I bet you won’t be able to resist those brightly colored sprinkles and white chocolate sauce for very long. Ideal for a Unicorn themed birthday party – you can even involve the guests with the decorating part.
